Making An Appointment
BOOKING & CANCELLING APPOINTMENTS
To make (or cancel) an
appointment please email me on
info@blackminster.co.uk
If urgent, please call me on 01386 830 100.
I work Monday-Friday 8:30 AM - 6:30 PM - but unlike many dispensers I am
perfectly
happy for you to visit my practice outside "normal" hours. For example
early
morning, evenings, weekends are all possible - just ask!
Easy parking right next to my building is available. My practice is
on
the ground floor.
THE INITIAL HEARING TEST APPOINTMENT
As a first step you will
need to make an appointment
to visit my practice at Blackminster for a hearing test.
This
initial session can last
typically 1 to 2 hours so please allow enough
time!
Depending
on the hearing test
results, I may recommend that you purchase one or possibly two hearing
aids.
I am a great believer in the benefits of the latest tiny & discreet Open Fitting & Loudspeaker In The Ear models - and I can often fit these at this initial appointment. If
we take this route I will set up an appropriate physical fit,
and also "program" the micro-computer in the digital
hearing
aid to match your hearing situation. You will then be able to leave my
practice wearing your new almost invisible hearing aids! (Before you go
I will arrange for a further Follow Up appointment - see below.)
However if you need a custom made In The Ear hearing aid or a custom made earmould for a traditional Behind The Ear aid, then I may take some "impressions" of
your
ears - a quick and simple process. With your
agreement, I will then order your customised hearing aids from the
manufacturer
which will take 5 to 15 days to arrive back at our
practice. We will then need to book a further Fitting Appointment (see below)
(Please note that your
ears need to be totally wax free in order to
perform the hearing test etc. If in doubt, please visit the Practice
Nurse at your local GP's surgery prior to your visit - thanks)
THE FITTING APPOINTMENT
If you were fitted with Open Fitting & Loudspeaker In The Ear models at the initial appointment then you won't need a separate Fitting Appointment. However if you are being fitted with a custom made hearing aid or earmould then you will need a dedicated Fitting Appointment. When your custom made aids or earmoulds arrive at
our practice from the
manufacturer I will ask you back for another visit so that we can
check
the physical fit, and also so I can "program" the micro-computer in the digital
hearing
aid to match your hearing situation. This session can last typically 1
to
2 hours.
THE FOLLOW UP VISIT
I will offer you a
free-of-charge follow up
appointment so that we can check how you are getting on with your
hearing
aid. This visit will normally be about 2 or 3 weeks after the fitting - and
certainly
within 6 weeks. This session will typically last 30 minutes to 1
hour.
"FINE TUNING" VISITS
Most clients may need 1
or 2 "fine tuning" sessions
for their hearing aid. Some will require several more. Such sessions
will
typically last 30 minutes to 1 hour. I offer all necessary fine-tuning
sessions
taken in the first 30 calendar days after the purchase date as part of
the
purchase price. If required, three further free fine-tuning sessions
will
also be provided as part of the purchase price, if taken within 4
months
of the purchase date. Fine-tuning sessions after that time will be
chargeable
at the rates then in place.
"QUICKY" VISITS
Sometimes you may need to
drop by for a trivial
hearing aid adjustment or for some operational advice. Clearly I will
try
not to charge for such minor visits in the first 4 months.
Sorry, I do NOT supply hearing aids or related services to US nationals or US residents.
