Until
very
recently I would usually recommend a different model or style of
hearing aid for the various different levels of hearing loss.The situation in the hearing aid industry has now changed greatly with the arrival of the high tech LITE (Loudspeaker In The Ear) hearing aid models. These tiny Behind-The-Ear hearing aids actually have their tiny loudspeaker sitting in the ear canal rather than being inside the hearing aid body. This technique allows these LITE models to be used with almost any level of hearing loss, from Mild to Severe. Their small size and low profile allows them to be almost invisible when fitted. The interchangable fittings used with these LITE models also allows you to be fitted with working hearing aids on the day of your hearing test! |

Phonak Savia Art 411 BTE Power model The Phonak Savia Art 411 Power BTE model is a very welcome addition to the hearing aid world. It provides high power together with sophisticated digital processing & directional microphones. The Savia Art 411 offers top digital processing performance in a unique high output power format. It has 20 frequency bands which I find very useful when fitting power models to those with severe hearing problems. The Savia Art includes a Bass Boost feature which can help with some clients. The Savia Art also includes an integrated hearing test system, AudiogramDirect which can allow very accurate fittings to be made - see details of this at our High Precision Fitting page UPDATE: Phonak have now extended their AudiogramDirect system to their lower-priced mid-level Phonak Extra 411. |

Unitron Behind-The-Ear Power models For users with less challenging demands I find that the Unitron Unison 3 Power BTE products can perform well. The Unison 3 High Power model is a significant & welcome addition to the world of ultra high power hearing aids. Both of these Power models have directional microphones, which help when in background noise. Both models have the features you would expect from a modern mid-range hearing aid such as: 3 programs, loops etc. This model has 6 frequency bands, which can help in setting up a fitting which accurately matches your hearing loss. |
